IgG (immunoglobulin G) testing is a useful guide for practitioners to structure an elimination diet for many chronic health conditions. The foods that cause these delayed reactions are often hard to diagnose because of the time between consumption and the physical reaction. Generally, an IgG reaction occurs hours to days after exposure to these food antigens.
The IgG food allergy test offers a useful tool for detecting the foods causing this response. The results are patient specific and provide an easy, precise and effective starting point for dietary manipulation.
When doing an IgG test, it is recommended to eat a large variety of foods in the two weeks prior to testing. Include as many of the foods that are being tested in the specific allergy panel you have chosen. Be aware that if foods are not included in the diet during this time, false negative results may be obtained as recent exposure to these foods may be required for antibodies to be present in the blood.
It is recommended that IgG allergy testing is only performed for infants greater than 18 months of age.

Dried Urine Hormonal Test (D.U.T.C.H)

Assessing zinc status can be difficult, as most of the body's zinc stores are in the bones. Hair analysis, levels in sweat, blood serum or white blood cells all require considerable (and costly) laboratory work. The Zinc Taste Test provides a quick and reliable clinical test for the assessment of zinc status.
Studies have demonstrated this test to be reliable and reproducible. It provides patients with a simple and inexpensive screening method for determining the need for zinc. By using the oral Zinc Taste Test to determine the need for zinc, and retesting after 30 days of supplementation, one can not only determine zinc requirements, but also monitor the patient to be sure they are properly absorbing their zinc.
Numerous research studies have found that sub-optimal levels of zinc are very common at all ages, especially in the elderly. An Australian study found that 85% of women and 65% of men do not receive the RDA for zinc in their diets.
Responses to tasting 10 mL of the solution are:
Category 1 - No specific taste or other sensation is noticed, even after the solution has been kept in the mouth for about ten seconds.
Category 2 - No immediate taste is noted, but after a few seconds a slight taste variously described as dry-mineral, furry, or sweet develops.
Category 3 - A definite, though not strongly unpleasant taste is noted almost immediately and tends to intensify with time.

Urinary Indican Test
The Urinary Indican Test is an accurate, simple and inexpensive screening tool, allowing identification of the putrefaction of protein in the gastrointestinal tract. As we know, the gut is the seat of health – a positive test reflects a state of intestinal bacterial dysbiosis, compromising optimal wellbeing.
How the test works: The test detects the presence of indican in urine; also knowns as indoxyl sulphate, produced when there is putrefaction of tryptophan from dietary protein by dysbiotic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. A positive test result, therefore, may indicate dysbiosis, SIBO, impaired gut motility and/or malabsorption states, with darker shades indicating more severe dysfunctions.

There is a large body of evidence that supports the use of urinary indican testing as a beneficial point-of-care screening tool.
Dysbiosis: is an overgrowth of unfavorable bacteria, yeasts and/or parasites in the lower digestive system. Most dysbiotic bacteria produce indole from tryptophan, and imbalances in the flora in the large intestine have been proven to be associated with positive urinary indican test results.
SIBO: numerous studies have linked small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) to positive indican test results. Dysbiotic bacteria from the large intestine that enter the small intestine can produce indole and generate significant amounts of localised inflammation and gut damage. SIBO can contribute to impaired nutrient absorption, chronic fatigue and immunological dysfunctions.
Constipation: can worsen dysbiosis by providing fuel for dysbiotic bacteria thus worsening gut flora imbalances. Additionally, constipation can make urinary indican test results darker, as stagnating fecal matter allows for existing dysbiotic organisms to act on tryptophan for longer, producing more indole.
Malabsorption: urinary indican excretion can also be increased in malabsorption states when proteins are poorly digested and absorbed, resulting in excessive tryptophan reaching the lower parts of the small intestine and colon. Even patients with normal intestinal bacterial populations can show increased post-priandial indican excretion when they fail to digest dietary protein.
Collect your first urine specimen of the morning, mid-stream in the clean specimen container. It is important to use first morning urine as indican levels can reduce throughout the day.
Urine sample should be refrigerated until arrival at consultation.
A meal with some protein to ensure adequate amounts of tryptophan (required for an accurate test result) should be eaten the night before the sample is taken.
Avoid alcohol 24 hrs before taking urine sample may produce a false negative result.
Kelp & other supplements high in iodine should be avoided for three days before taking urine sample.
